Vineyard Haven Harbor
Vineyard Haven, MA
Although technically a renovation, this shingled harbor-front house is essentially new construction. In order to maintain the close proximity to the water, the new home had to be built atop the previous house’s foundation. That 1980s structure was taken down, and this eclectic shingle-style home replaced it.
Today, the home welcomes guests with a broad drive leading to a gabled carriage-house wing and an entry accessed through a charming covered screened porch. The harbor-facing side of the house, meanwhile, now has a step-out lower level, which adds an additional story whose windows overlook the water.
