Greek Revival Village House

Edgartown Village Historic District, MA

Even though it is newly built, this home appears entirely in keeping with the original nineteenth-century farmhouses surrounding it. Its authentic character stems from the way it celebrates Greek Revival architecture both inside and out, while simultaneously nodding to European influences favored by its owner.

A classic gabled façade, portico entry, and brick foundation allow the new house to slip seamlessly into its streetscape. A set-back carriage house with apartment above doubles as a cabana for a hidden pool, and the house itself features such timeless details as spar-varnished mahogany beadboard, built-in bookshelves, and wide-plank wood floors.
