Carisbrooke Georgian Revival

Wellesley, MA

Located in a neighborhood of romantic, individually designed homes, this grand 1935 Georgian Revival had undergone a series of haphazard renovations, resulting in interiors that lacked both flow and outdoor connectivity. Channeling the original architect’s intent allowed for the restoration of its timeless character, providing spaces for modern living with historic perspective.

Removing earlier extensions returned the house to its origins, while new additions designed at a more complementary scale allowed the interiors to be arranged along central spines. These open onto gathering spaces and culminate in outdoor-living opportunities. Today, the home looks as if it had been elegantly—and appropriately—added on to over time.
