Woodcliff
Wellesley, Massachusetts
With an ideal location in Wellesley’s desirable Cliff Estates neighborhood, this 1935 residence retained much of its original charm. Details like an original slate roof, unique gabled peaks, and exposed stone tugged at the heartstrings, but the interior program was less than ideal for modern times.

A total renovation and augmentation – sensitively completed – allowed the house to retain its character while gracefully expanding the property and elegantly reconfiguring the floor plan. No wall was left untouched in the comprehensive project, yet the resulting residence leaves one wondering what was original and what was built anew.
