When clients purchased a vacant 6-acre parcel, they knew they wanted to build a home with an authentic sense of place on the wooded lot. To accomplish that in a new build, we turned to architecture with a sense of implied history that ties to the island’s centuries-old farming culture with materials and forms supporting the narrative. bar.












The new cape-style residence attaches to a carriage house wing via a stepped-down connector, while an adjacent barn references earlier times with its simplified form and board and batten siding. Interiors feature a modern layout designed to encourage new summer memories and to comfortably gather both indoors and out.
