Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival is rooted in educating visitors about the island’s fishing and farming traditions. The iconic homes and neighborhoods are also very much part of the Vineyard’s history, and architect Patrick Ahearn, who has completed a number of renovations locally, leads guests on an hour-and-a-half walking tour.
“We try to educate people about what the architecture of Edgartown is all about,” says Ahearn, who also discusses aspects of village life and the importance of creating and maintaining pedestrian-friendly quarters.
Last fall, New England Living TV host Parker Kelley joined Ahearn as he guided visitors and locals into three recent projects on South Water Street. Ahearn’s homes embody the historic shingled charm of the area, but also reflect emerging modern trends.
