Autumn in New York is Timeless in New York! On Thursday, November 1st, we had the great pleasure of speaking at the historic Joseph I. Lubin House on the beautiful Upper East Side of Manhattan. The townhouse, which serves as home base for Syracuse University’s NYC operations, was an ideal venue to meet and mingle with our New York clients, friends, family and colleagues. The evening began with a festive cocktail reception in the 1870’s Room, a gorgeous, wood paneled room restored as an “historic and ceremonial space” to gather. Guests then moved downstairs to the Pergament Room for the book presentation and to take part in a lively Q&A discussion about architectural and design inspiration. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces in the audience – as well as many new friends we were delighted to meet and talk with.
After the lecture, the celebration continued back upstairs where guests socialized and enjoyed a fabulous array of Spanish tapas and Tuscan Antipasti. There was great energy in the room – laughter, lively discussion and a palpable sense that everyone appreciated the unequaled feeling of autumn in New York. We were grateful to share the evening with such a wonderful group of people.
Next up on our Timeless book tour is Wellesley Free Library on November 29th and then Chatham Bars Inn December 6th. Local and holiday presentations not to be missed! Please visit https://patrickahearn.com/timeless-book/ to RSVP.
August marked the halfway point for our Timeless book tour and we wanted to celebrate some of the notable highlights with you along the way. After wonderful stops in Boston, New Hampshire, Wellesley, Chatham, Osterville and Watch Hill, we headed to historic Newport Rhode Island as a guest speaker at this summer’s Newport Show. As one of the largest antique shows in the country, The Newport Show attracts collectors and guests from New York to Palm Beach. The Gala Preview Party the night before the show opened was a glamorous evening where 600 guests – including attendees Martha Stewart and Fashion Director Cameron Silver – previewed art, mingled with collectors and enjoyed a stunning cocktail reception. The lecture attendees were well versed in high-end design and their distinct appreciation for history and architecture made for rich discussion. We are grateful to have been a part of this distinguished event!
Our next stop was the illustrious East Hampton Library Author’s night. We were thrilled to be invited to share Timeless at what is considered the “Premier Literary Event” in the Hamptons. In fact, it has become one of the most successful celebrations of books in the country. Over 2,000 guests mingled under the grand tents in beautiful Amagansett, purchased books and had them signed by their favorite authors. We had the distinct pleasure of meeting dozens of wonderful personalities including Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Malcolm Nance, Nick Voulgaris and Nathan Turner to name a few. In between book signings, there were plenty of celebrities to mix with, including Founding Honorary Chair Alec Baldwin, who was seated near us (Ahearn, Baldwin – alphabetical author seating)! We witnessed the swoon of paparazzi from the moment we entered. Speaking of Alec, Patrick and his wife Marsha had the pleasure of dining with he and his wife Hilaria at the lovely home of Library board member Janet Ross. To be sure, there were some memorable laughs and lively conversation throughout dinner!
Authors Night was an exceptional place to celebrate our halfway mark. Not only was it an fabulous evening, it was a record-breaking fundraiser where 100% of book sales benefit the Library. It’s notable from a historical perspective, “no other small town in America has such a collection of rare materials tracing the region’s history back to its origins.” We’re sure that Sheila Rogers, East Hampton Library’s Board President, was elated at the attendance and wonderful success of event. And we were honored to be a part of this spectacular evening!
Next up on our September calendar we went to the beautiful Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, followed by The Charleston Library Society in historic Charleston, South Carolina, and Martha’s Vineyard for the Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival just last week (stay tuned for this video next Tuesday).
