Harbor Boathouse & Cabana

Edgartown Village Historic District, MA

These two buildings were carved from the vestiges of a rambling and ramshackle eleven-bedroom home, which could not be salvaged. They represent the first stage in a larger reimaging of an expansive piece of property on Edgartown Harbor, which will soon include a new primary residence also designed by the firm.

The existing 1920s house had been added on to over the years in less than sympathetic ways. Removing these extensions allowed the waterside section to become the freestanding boathouse it is today, with an adjacent open-air dining pavilion, featuring an alfresco kitchenette and fireplace, as a new companion.
