Timeless at Authors Night, East Hampton

08.30.2018

August marked the halfway point for our Timeless Book Tour and we wanted to celebrate some of the notable highlights with you along the way. After wonderful stops in Boston, New Hampshire, Wellesley, Chatham, Osterville, and Watch Hill, we headed to historic Newport Rhode Island as a guest speaker at this summer’s Newport Show.

Our next stop was the illustrious East Hampton Library Author’s Night. We were thrilled to be invited to share Timeless at what is considered the “Premier Literary Event” in the Hamptons. In fact, it has become one of the most successful celebrations of books in the country. Over 2,000 guests mingled under the grand tents in beautiful Amagansett, purchased books and had them signed by their favorite authors.

Patrick with Nick Voulgaris, author of Chris-Craft Boats: An American Classic.

We had the distinct pleasure of meeting dozens of wonderful personalities including Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Malcolm Nance, Nick Voulgaris and Nathan Turner to name a few. In between book signings, there were plenty of celebrities to mix with, including Founding Honorary Chair Alec Baldwin, who was seated near us (Ahearn, Baldwin – alphabetical author seating)! We witnessed the swoon of paparazzi from the moment we entered. Speaking of Alec, Patrick had the pleasure of dining with him and his wife Hilaria at the lovely home of Library board member Janet Ross. To be sure, there were some memorable laughs and lively conversation throughout dinner!

Authors Night was an exceptional place to celebrate our halfway mark. Not only was it a fabulous evening, it was a record-breaking fundraiser where 100% of book sales benefit the Library. It’s notable from a historical perspective, “no other small town in America has such a collection of rare materials tracing the region’s history back to its origins.” We’re sure that Sheila Rogers, East Hampton Library’s Board President, was elated at the attendance and wonderful success of the event. And we were honored to be a part of this spectacular evening!

Next up on our September calendar, we went to the beautiful Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, followed by The Charleston Library Society in historic Charleston, South Carolina, and Martha’s Vineyard for the Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival just last week (stay tuned for this video next Tuesday).
