Captain’s House
Edgartown Village Historic District, MA
Preserved and reused original beams and mercury doorknobs—as well as old-growth pine flooring, antique window glass, and other historically accurate finishes—lend a nineteenth-century patina. The home’s flowing plan and light-filled spaces were designed to be conducive to indoor-outdoor enjoyment, a key element desired by the contemporary clients.
"Pat Ahearn was our architect for both houses. For the second rebuild, I drew my 'wish' house, and then Pat would figure out how to make it happen. We had a wonderful partnership; I wore him down redoing the first house."
