On a picturesque winter evening Sunday, December 17th, on Beacon Hill, Patrick Ahearn hosted a stunning party for the launch of his new book, Timeless: Classic American Architecture for Contemporary Living. The venue, Boston’s Hampshire House on Beacon Street, was an ideal setting tor the celebration. With its soaring ceilings and carved oak paneling, this historic mansion (which Ahearn restored some years back) reflected the classic, timeless tone of the evening. The guest list included long-time clients, editors, publishers and of course family, and friends. The rooms were filled with a remarkable cross-section of people who have impacted Ahearn’s life and architectural career – which now spans over four decades.
The star of the party, Ahearn’s book, Timeless, is a beautifully written and exquisitely photographed account that takes readers on a tour of 18 homes he’s created in some of New England’s most affluent communities – specifically Wellesley, Cape Cod, and Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard. Referring to Ahearn’s classic work in Edgartown, Architectural Digest’s Fred Bernstein calls Timeless a “stunning new book”, and states, “This Architecture is why people covet Martha’s Vineyard Real Estate.” Read the article here. As guests socialized, many also enjoyed watching an exciting Patriots’ victory. With the launch party scheduled during the AFC East playoff game, a viewing area was available so that partygoers could celebrate the book and see their home team play. The Patriots’ huge win only added to the festive, celebratory nature of the evening. Last but not least, we wrapped up the evening with a surprise birthday celebration for Patrick’s sister, Nancy Ahearn.
